Hearts of Service FAQs
Can my Hearts of Service hours count towards my community service hours needed for my Bronze, Silver and/or Gold Awards? No. All community service hours required for Bronze, Silver and Gold are separate from the hours counted towards the Hearts of Service patch program.
Where is this patch placed on the uniform? Since this is a patch and not a badge the Hearts of Service center patch and heart segments are to be worn on the back of a girl's vest or sash.
What happens if a girl does not complete the number of hours for her level before she bridges to the next level? Does she have to start her hours over? Hours for the Hearts of Service patch are cummulative and carry over from level to level. If a girl has completed 3 hours of service as a Daisy and then bridges to Brownie she only has to have an additional 7 hours of service to earn the Brownie heart segment.
Can my Hearts of Service hours count towards my hours for the Presidential Volunteer Service Award? Absolutely. Service hours can be counted for both the Hearts of Service patch program and the Presidential Volunteer Service Award.
My Girl Scout worked two hours at the Food Bank with her church youth group. Do those hours count towards Hearts of Service? No. Only community service hours worked while the girl was representing Girl Scouts count towards the Hearts of Service patch.
